Often crafted from silver or enamelled ceramics, hookahs reflected status, wealth, and courtly etiquette. Seen in aristocratic drawing rooms, temples, and festive gatherings—such as the scene of three men preparing a hookah during Durga Puja—they were integral to both ritual and leisure.
